The Member can apply to freeze their SATS membership under special circumstances. «Freeze» means temporarily stopping the membership for a time-limited period.
To apply for freeze of membership, the Member must fill out the freeze application form, and attach valid documentation for the entire period. If the Member has the right to freeze the membership without documentation for a particular period (for example senior members), the Member can upload an empty document in the application form before submission.
The application must be submitted prior to the requested freeze period. The application and documentation can also be delivered in one of our SATS clubs.
The application form and attachment(s) will be encrypted during submission, and attachments will be deleted or destroyed after the application is processed, in accordance to GDPR (the General Data Protection Regulation).
Membership freeze terms*
The membership can temporarily be stopped for a minimum period of one (1) month and maximum 12 months.
A written note or letter from a physician, hospital or other medical personnel, that confirms that the membership cannot be used for the requested period, is considered valid documentation.
The membership cannot be frozen retroactively, with the exception of serious injury or illness where the Member has been unable to come in contact with SATS at an earlier date. This must be documented by a letter from a physician or hospital. The maximum credited months is six (6) months back in time.
The membership can temporarily be stopped for a minimum period of one (1) month and maximum 12 months. The freeze period can start when the Member sends documentation to SATS, and can last up to three (3) months after the pregnancy due date.
A pregnancy health card or a letter from a physician or medical personnel that confirms the pregnancy due date is considered valid documentation.
The membership can temporarily be stopped for a minimum period of one (1) month and maximum 12 months. SATS considers work, studies or military services in locations where SATS is not located, or incarceration, to fall under the deployment/expatriation freeze terms.
A confirmation letter from your employer, student residency/enrollment letter, notice for military service or confirmation of incarceration, is considered valid documentation.
documented vacation abroad
The membership can temporarily be stopped for a minimum period of two (2) months and maximum 12 months.
Plane tickets (must include a return ticket), hotel bookings or a confirmation from a travel agency, is considered valid documentation.
SENIOR (from 67 years of age)
The membership can temporarily be stopped for a minimum period of one (1) month and maximum three (3) months per calendar year, with no documentation. If the freeze period should be extended, the reason must be documented in accordance with one of SATS’ other freeze terms.
If the Member is receiving an “Offshore” discount according to a company agreement, the Member cannot freeze the membership unless it is because of injury/illness or pregnancy. Please see relevant freeze terms for injury/illness and pregnancy.
Upon approval of freeze
The Member will receive a written feedback on the freeze application within 14 days. The application is not considered approved before a written confirmation is received by SATS.
If the freeze application is approved, the Member is not liable to pay membership fees during the freeze period, but the payment-free periods and freeze periods will not necessarily coincide for invoicing reasons. Invoices that are received or payment agreement deductions must be paid, unless the written feedback on the freeze application states otherwise. Any overpaid amounts will automatically be reduced after the freeze period.
If the Member has PT-payments on installment, the payments will continue as usual during the freeze period and will not be stopped.
The Member will not have access to SATS’ training facilities during the freeze period.
In the event the Member is still in the binding period, this period will be extended by the number of days specified in the freeze period that is granted.
When the freeze period expires, the membership will continue on the conditions that follow the membership agreement.
If applying for a further freeze period, the Member must submit a new application form for the freeze period requested. For an extension of the freeze period, the application must be submitted before the end of the freeze period.
If the Member wishes to terminate the membership during the freeze period, the termination period is one (1) month, and termination will take effect at the end of the following month after the freeze period. In the event of serious illness or injury, the membership can be terminated with immediate effect. This must be documented by a confirmation from a physician, hospital or health personnel.
In confirming a membership freeze, SATS may require the Member to pay a reasonable administration fee in accordance with SATS´ applicable prices.
Please see our General Terms and Conditions.
*The freeze terms apply for memberships created or changed after 25.08.2014. For memberships created before this date, and not changed after the above date, the freeze terms for the particular membership will apply. Please contact SATS Customer Service for more information.
