The purpose of the assisted lying leg raise is to both strengthen the core and hip flexors independently for balance, and the ability to stabilize the pelvis against unwanted movement.

Lie on your back, grab a dumbbell over your head on the floor.
Hold the abs in a crunched position and raise both legs to a vertical position.
Lower both legs at a time to the floor, then raise them back while maintaining the same pelvis position.
